Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (SDNPPO) —- The Surigao City Police Station (CPS) has filed a murder charge against the suspect who shot the 48-year-old victim on December 24, 2022.

Provincial Director, Police Colonel Laudemer M Laude revealed that the Surigao City Prosecutor’s Office received the Murder charge through regular filing docketed under NPS No. XIII-05-INV-23A-00025 on January 12, 2023, around 9:00 AM. The male suspect is of legal age and a resident of Surigao City.

Citing a report from the Surigao City PS, the witness positively identified the suspect after the thorough conduct of a follow-up investigation together with the intelligence operatives.

On December 24, 2022, around 5:20 PM, the suspect shot dead Maryann Fernandez Teoso, 48 years old, a widow, a meat vendor, and a resident of Sitio Gayas in Barangay Sabang, while walking home.

“We are gratified after a witness identified the gunman resulting in filing a murder charge to the Prosecutor’s office. We remain positive that an arrest warrant will be issued so that we can implement his arrest. The cooperation and information of the community are a great help in putting this suspect behind bars to pay for the crime he committed,” PD Laude said.

Note: PNP did not named yet the suspect til an Arrest Warrant be issued from the Court.
