Riding the Waves of Resilience: Siargao Gears Up for the 27th International Surfing Cup at Cloud 9

Siargao is set to host the 27th Siargao International Surfing Cup (SISC), reaffirming its status as a global surfing hub. From October 25 to November 1, 2023, the world will converge on Siargao’s iconic Cloud 9 for this prestigious event. With participants and fans coming from around the world, the competition showcases Siargao’s legendary waves and resilience.

Initiated in 1994 by Governor Lalo Matugas and Mayor Jaime Rusillon, the SISC is a testament to Siargao’s surfing prowess and tight-knit community. This year’s event promises to celebrate surfing culture, values, and community as international surfers vie for the WSL Men’s and Women’s QS3000 International Surfing Cup titles.

Supported by various organizations and government bodies, the 27th SISC spotlights Siargao on the global stage. Surfing enthusiasts can register for the event through the WSL website.

Beyond the competition, the Surfing Cup plays a vital role in the Siargao community, drawing athletes and tourists from across Asia. Despite the challenges faced after Typhoon Odette in 2021, Siargao stands strong, inviting tourists to experience its breathtaking beauty and unique surfing culture at Cloud 9, a spot recognized as one of the world’s best surf destinations by CNNGo.
