Surigao del Norte Emerging as a Premier Tourist Destination

BUTUAN CITY – Eleven towns and the city of Surigao in mainland Mindanao are set to be developed into premier tourist spots in the Caraga Region.

The other nine municipalities in Surigao del Norte, situated on the islands of Siargao and Bucas Grande, are already recognized as some of the country’s top tourist destinations.

With the recent declaration that mainland Surigao del Norte, including Surigao City, is insurgency-free, the region is ready to transition from being a jump-off point to neighboring islands to becoming a destination rich with exciting new tourism offerings.

Last year, the province saw a 189.18 percent increase in tourist arrivals, totaling 530,719 visits compared to 183,528 in 2022. Of these visitors, 476,971 were local tourists, while 53,748 were foreign tourists.
